Day 1VeniceArrival in Venice and enjoy a private water taxi along the Grand Canal. “La Serenissima” is often considered the most romantic city in the world. It is the water that seeps into one’s imagination when dreaming of Venice. The main attraction in Venice is Venice, so leave plenty of time to explore with or without a map. Afternoon and evening at your leisure. |
Day 2VeniceAfter breakfast, you will meet your private Guide for a tour that features all of the most important sights of Venice. The tour will continue through the narrow alleys of Venice to discover some of the hidden treasuries of Venice. |
Day 3VeniceThis day is to be spent at your leisure. We suggest a visit to Ca' Rezzonico, a Palazzo on the Grand Canal, which offers a unique opportunity to visit an authentic 1700 private house. A visit to Venice is not complete without a walk around the Cannaregio District, and the Jewish ghetto. |
Day 4FlorenceArrive in Florence via Train and check in to Hotel. After lunch, we suggest to visit the Accademia, where you will have a reservation. The Accademia houses the most famous Florentine masterpiece: Michelangelo’s David. For dinner, consult our “Restaurant Suggestions” for the right spot for your tastes. |
Day 5FlorenceThis morning is a 3 hr private walking tour of the most famous monuments of the Florence. Pass the rest of the day as you wish. |
Day 6Florence and ChiantiThis morning you will take a short train ride to Figline Valdarno for a lesson in Tuscan cooking at a local restaurant with the head chef. You will learn many of the wonderful traditions of Italian Cooking, as well as a few classic recipes. After the lesson, you feast on your results…so pay attention! You will be picked up by a Private Driver from your Cooking Lesson and driven to Chianti. The landscape of Chianti is dotted with vineyards, orchards, olive groves and rolling hills. Return to Florence for dinner and overnight. |
Day 7RomeArrival in Rome via train and check in to your Hotel. The “Eternal City” is an outdoor museum. In no other city does the past so visibly co-exist in the present. Rome is best enjoyed outdoors, where a bustling metropolis thrives with elegantly dressed Italians enjoying long romantic walks, Vespa scooters darting through narrow alleys, and shoppers bearing their latest finds from the stylish boutiques on Via Condotti. |
Day 8RomeThis morning is dedicated to the Vatican. A four-hour, critically acclaimed walking seminar is designed to give a comprehensive, in-depth introduction to the Vatican art collection, and St Peter’s Basilica. In the afternoon, we suggest a visit to the Colosseum, followed by a walk through Piazza Navona. In the evening, head to Trastevere, where you will find the best nightlife in the City. |
Day 9RomeDuring the reign of Augustus the city of Rome began a period of significant expansion, moving beyond the confines of the Forum into the Campus Martius, or what is today the historic center of Rome. Today’s 4 hr guided walk follows the traces of antiquity in this part of the city, from the great theater and temples along the Tiber to the Pantheon. “Classical Rome” is a fundamental walk for understanding ancient Rome. Dinner and overnight. |
